Our Essential Carriers

When I became pregnant I started researching carriers. I had a lot of first hand experience prior to being a mama because I had been a manager at a natural parenting store for two years. I had been through training, had hands on experience fitting new couples and their little one to a carrier, and hearing first hand what new parents liked best.

But, when I was left to creating my registry I decided on these three. YES - I believe that these THREE essentially have made babyhood blissful throughout its many stages.

1. SollyBaby Wrap

When?

This wrap is best for the yummy, squishy newborn era. Definitely buy before baby is born. After baby is about 13 pounds something more supportive is better for mama’s back.

What?

It’s soft waves of bamboo fabric make it a dream to wear- especially for baby. I started wearing this as soon as we got home from the hospital. It’s supportive yet comfy and cozy for new mamas (daddies too) and their babies.

Why?

It feels like the womb for little one and gives that essential skin on skin contact and ability to nurse and have baby nap- while mama can still use her hands. I loved this wrap so much because I wanted to constantly hug and cuddle Evelyn so it helped me achieve this while walking around.

2. Sakura Bloom Silk Ring Sling *The Surprise Contender*

*I never was a fan of this one when fitted new parents with it- thought it would be annoying and not practical- boy was I wrong! I have used this one the most

When?

I love the ring sling because you can wear it snuggly during infancy kangaroo pouch and froggy style and beyond into toddler-hood on your hip. It provides comfort and security while being more supportive and easier to understand. It is easy to throw in a diaper bag- the best of both worlds between SollyBaby and Structure Lillebaby Carrier.

What?

Silk is my favorite recommendation for toddlers, for summer, and for anyone looking for that one sling to take them from the newborn days through the toddler years. It is incredibly lightweight, supportive and breathable.Perfect for an upscale event- I took Evelyn to a Science Center Benefit at 5 weeks in it- to going to baby’s check-up appointment. Oh, and it did I mention it is machine washable?

Why?

It keeps you and babe super close and cozy. Super easy for nursing and staying covered. Also perfect for the on the go nap for a young babe. Evelyn loved this sling especially because she grew out of Solly fast. I still kept her supported and close but with more room and support for both of us. Easiest to keep in diaper bag so I was always prepared for longs walks, nap, or nurse time.

 3. The Lillebaby

When? I used it only a few times when she was itty bitty. It really isn’t cosy and is too structured for squishy newborns in my opinion. You’ll see a photo of me and Evie at 4 days so it is functional but utilized more when she had more abdominal control-around 4 months. I absolutely love it for later stages. As I am typing this now she is napping and nursing in the Lillebaby. Helps to make baby feel close, secure and provided privacy for mama while nursing and baby while napping. I is our go to for any events where we’ll be out overlapping naptime because I can put her in it and she will nap immediately and I can still use my arms and hands.

What?

The LÍLLÉbaby COMPLETE baby carriers combines more carrying positions, lasts longer, and includes more features than any other baby carrier.

  • SIX ERGONOMIC CARRYING POSITIONS – Includes every carrying positon without the need for an infant insert: Front-fetal, Front-infant, Front-outward, Front- toddler, Hip and Back carry
  •  LUMBAR SUPPORT – Increases support to maximize parent's comfort.
  • TWO-WAY STRAP to carry "backpack style" or with straps crossed in the back. Dual adjustment buckles simplify breastfeeding and adjusting straps on the go.
  • SLEEPING HOOD
  • EXTRA TALL, EXTENDABLE TORSO – So comfortable your baby will fall asleep. Provides extra neck and back support and keeps taller babies secure in the carrier.
  • POCKETS

Why?

It is multifunctonal for every member of the family. I wear this carrier as has my husband (most men gravitate to it because of it’s backpack style), my dad and mom as well. It is super supportive for given the lumbar support and cushioned padding. It is more cumbersome but if you are out for a long day it can weather all activities and keep baby happy. It is a true endurance carrier through festivals, long walks on the beach or all day events. It is nice to have for an older baby that likes to crawl and be active but when they want to nap you can tuck them away.

This can be A LOT of information, especially if you're diving into the life of a first time mama. Having multiple carriers has made life much easier with Evelyn,  and I know just which one to grab when i'm running out of the door. Being a mama, no matter if you're new to it or not - you never stop growing and learning! If you have any questions about carriers or anything else - you're always welcome to message me!
